Wardrobe 44 is a British-based clothing brand founded by former print journalist Alex Gorton. Inspired by contemporary European style with a British twist, our designs have been made with longevity in mind, created to fit seamlessly into your existing wardrobe and life. With exquisite attention to detail such as a statement cuff, an inspiring print or a small internal trim, our pieces will make you look and feel special. We were thrilled to be included in Observer Magazine's round-up of the top U.K and Ireland boutiques in 2023, worn by Claudia Winkleman in the finale of BBC 1's smash hit show The Traitors and featured in YOU magazine in 2024.

As a journalist (for publications including The Times, The FT, Evening Standard, Conde Nast Brides and Traveller) and co-founder of former lifestyle blog Wear & Where, Alex spent her former career writing about trends, interviewing celebrities and designers, travelling and, more often than not, hunting out gorgeous, must-have items from around the globe.

And this, really, is where the idea of Wardrobe 44 came from. Having been lucky enough to discover so many beautiful clothes through her job, she initially wanted to compile a curated edit of her favourite pieces on one website. And then, having not been able to find exactly what she wanted at the right price point, she set about designing her own range.

Why dress like everybody else? The beauty of shopping with a small female-founded brand like Wardrobe 44 is that we are as unique as you are. We work with carefully chosen partners to produce our pieces in tiny, limited runs, that only a few people will ever own. Designed by women, we understand that you want to feel current, contemporary and special, and have the confidence to step out into the world looking and feeling amazing. We hope that wearing Wardrobe 44 will help you do that.

 Wardrobe44 is growing, thanks to the incredible support of our amazing customers. As we grow, we look to becoming increasingly more sustainable, using eco-friendly fabrics, embracing charity initiatives and listening to what you want from us as a brand.
